DAY 15
October 18, 2006

Today we had perfect weather. It was a bit chilly in the morning, but the sun came up and made us shed our coats and jackets. The mountains south of Richfield were stunning with their white flocking of snow.

We passed through Elsinore, Utah and at the Cowboy Corral, one of the few first-rate old-school cafes left in the world. The building must have been built in the late 1890 or early 1900s and was most likely a dance hall. Several old men with cowboy hats sat at the counter and a team of beehive-haridooed ladies stood ready to take care of anyone who walked through the doors. I got the lunch special for $4.75, which included a hearty chicken soup, chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and country gravy, free corn, corn bread and piece of cake for dessert. Sure beats McDonalds.

We headed on down the road to Joseph and called it quits for the day. I expect it will be colder tomorrow as we start to climb in elevation toward Panguitch. I can’t wait.
